Into the Carpathian Wild
The Carpathian Mountains are a biodiversity hotspot, both the last stronghold for healthy populations of bears, wolves and lynx in Europe, and a success story for the return of the bison. This film, created as a series of four episodes, takes us through Slovakia, Poland, Ukraine and Romania in search of the most iconic species and the most fascinating stories, uncovered by the filmmakers during over 1.000 days in the field. At the festival we will watch the episode dedicated to the winter season, narrated by the famous British actress Olivia Williams.
Admission is free with a valid reservation*.
Q&A with Barbara & Christoph Promberger
Barbara and Christoph came to Romania in the early 1990's, they fell in love with the wild nature of our country and they remained here, where together with a passionate team, they created Conservation Carpathia Foundation. Following the documentary, we will discuss the ongoing efforts of the foundation to preserve the wildlife and the forests, in a project that aims to transform the Făgăraș Mountains into a national park.

Bran Castle - in the shadow of predators
We all know the legends created around this iconic place in Romania, but have we ever wondered what animals make the castle or the forests around it their home? This documentary, part of a larger series called Europe's Wildest Heritage which explores the creatures that live around some of the continent's most iconic buildings, from the Mont Saint-Michel abbey and the famous Pont du Gard to the castles of the Loire Valley or the Alhambra, will show us a hidden world that deserves to be protected just like the historical sites among which it survives.
Admission is free with a valid reservation*.
